Each 45 minute workshop will be held with a dance artist in their chosen style.

10.00-10.45am –              Street dance with EmJ (Body Politic) – Dance Studio

This session will be a fun energetic taster of what street dance involves. You will be doing some simple combinations and learning some fun choreography too. Please bring water with you.

11.00-11.45am –              Contemporary dance with Joelle Pappas – Dance Studio

In this session, we’ll explore the roots of 20th Century Contemporary Dance Techniques. Through guided improvisations and simple movement phrases, we’ll experience how breath and movement flow can ease the safe training of the contemporary dancer. Joëlle Pappas from Tac-au-Tac Dance Theatre leads this taster class.

12.00-12.45pm –             Breakdance with Mona Elghzal – Dance Studio

In this session we will explore the fundamentals of Breakdancing, from top rocking to footwork and power moves. You will learn some of the basic steps and gain a knowledge of the breakdancing culture. We hope the lesson will give you an insight to Breaking which will be featuring in the 2024 Olympics!

1.00-1.45pm –                  Tap dance with Lexi (Sole Rebel Tap) – Dance Studio

A fun friendly open tap workshop suitable for complete beginners, with Lexi from Sole Rebel – weekly Adult Tap teacher at the Old Fire Station. Upbeat, musical and rhythmic. No need to start with tap shoes: please feel free to wear clean hard-soled shoes or boots which hold well to your feet, but do not grip the floor – avoiding trainers.

2.15-3.00pm –                  Kathak dance with Anuradha (Drishti Dance) – Loft studio

A taster workshop led by dancer, choreographer and Artistic Director of Drishti Dance, Anuradha Chaturvedi, introducing classical Indian dance form Kathak, well known for its dizzying spins, fast paced foot work rendered to complex rhythm patterns and intricate hand finger gestures. The workshop is a fun and friendly introduction to nuances of the form.
