CALL-OUT for Gaia – Summer 2021 Global Dance Film Project

April 29, 2021 to June 16, 2021

All dance groups and dancers

Invitation to take part in the summer 2021 Global Dance Film project

The last two Global Dance Film projects were a wonderful way to bring together dancers from across the world in one global digital project. The last film has had over 1,000 views on You Tube. You can view it here.

The summer project’s theme is Gaia, taking inspiration from Mother Earth, and aspirations of hope and renewal. We are inviting community and youth dance groups from across Oxford and its twin cities, around the globe, to join us in this digital celebration and make a short dance film to the same piece of music (see below).  Filming can take place in any location in your home city.

Gaia Global Dance Film is a collaboration between Dancin’ Oxford / Oxford International Links partnership with Mandala Theatre and Ashtar Theatre’s International Digital and Live Festival and Oxford Festival of the Arts that will reach even more people. Alongside the Global Dance Film (which will be professionally edited), we will also be adding all submitted films, in their entirety, to our You Tube channel, to create a rich and diverse legacy for the project.

About the project – The film will be released on 7th July 2021 as part of Mandala Theatre and Ashtar Theatre’s International Digital and Live Festival, Oxford Festival of the Arts and Dancin’ Oxford’s Summer programme. The film will then be available on Dancin’ Oxford, Oxford Festival of the Arts and Oxford International Links YouTube channels.

The music – Here is the download link to Think Aloud by Benjamin McAvoy (De Wolfe Ltd), the music we want you to use for your film. The track is 3 minutes and 11 seconds, the whole of which will be used for our final edited film.  You can choreograph to a section of it, or to it all, depending on your preference.  If you make work using the whole track, we will upload your film in its entirety on our You Tube Channel if you give permission, and will also take a section of it for the Global Film (you can indicate your favourite section for the Global film and we will do our best to try and accommodate).

Please note: I
