About Us

Dance in Oxford has grown considerably over recent years with the strong support of Oxford City Council, and its Dance Officer. The City Council’s Dance Development Plan underlines its aim to:

  • increase participation in dance
  • work with those involved in dance provision to enhance the profile, quality and variety of dance activity in the city
  • lead, initiate and fundraise for innovative dance-based projects, and
  • ensure access to support and professional development for Oxford-based professional dance artists and companies.

Dancin’ Oxford is a major development for dance both locally, regionally and nationally. It significantly raises the profile and visibility of dance in the city, further establishing Oxford as a recognized hub for vibrant dance activity. It also provides opportunity for participants to actively engage in high quality dance, through an exciting programme of participatory activity and a performance programme.

Dancin’ Oxford involves a successful and well co-ordinated partnership working between key organisations in the city. Festival partners are Pegasus Theatre, Oxford Playhouse, Oxford City Council and the Oxford Dance Forum, working with Oxford & Cherwell Valley College, New Theatre,. New partners for 2010 include Burton Taylor Theatre,Headington Theatre, MINI Plant Oxford, Museum of Oxford, Oxford Castle Unlocked, The Regal and West Oxford Community Centre.
